Are Lumineers Right For You?

Lumineers

A survey conducted by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) found that as many as 99.7% of adults in the U.S. believe that a smile is a vital social asset, and about 96% think that a beautiful smile makes a person more attractive to the opposite sex.

We at Smile Designers Dental specialize in helping our patients enhance their smile. For those with mild cosmetic flaws, we may recommend Lumineers.

So you might be wondering, what makes Lumineers a great option? Let’s take a look at its advantages:

  • First, it preserves the enamel. Lumineers are ultra-thin veneers so healthy enamel does not need to be removed. Lumineers are as thin as a contact lens, unlike traditional veneers which are much thicker.
  • The procedure is also straightforward. On your first appointment we will take an impression of your teeth, and once your Lumineers arrive, you’ll need to come back so we can place it over the problem tooth.
  • It’s relatively painless. You won’t be given anesthetic injections during the procedure, and no extensive preparation is required.

Lumineers are minimally invasive, and the ultra-thin shells are also highly translucent, allowing it to replicate the tooth enamel’s natural appearance effectively. They’re also very durable, and with proper care, can last for up to 20 years or even more.

Are Lumineers Right For You?

There are many instances in which Lumineers may be the ideal solution to improve the appearance of teeth. If your teeth are moderately crooked, chipped or discolored, Lumineers may be recommended. It is also best for those with slightly misshapen teeth as well as those with mild gaps/spacing in between teeth.

However, Lumineers is not a recommended solution for moderate to severe malocclusions including problems with underbites, crossbites, and overbites.

The Procedure

The Lumineers procedure is pain-free, and it will enable us to fix your smile by improving the shape and color of your teeth. During the first visit, the dentist will take an impression of the teeth and send it to the laboratory. While waiting for your custom Lumineers to be ready, you don’t need to wear an artificial cover over your teeth as we won’t remove or drill away any tooth structure. Once your Lumineers are ready, we can place them over your teeth and make sure that the fit and color is perfect!

As you explore your options, it is crucial to remember that a beautiful smile is a lifetime investment. With Lumineers, you will get the smile you’ve always wanted quickly, painlessly and at a reasonable cost.
